Modelling biological systems
Diplôme d'ingénieur de l'École supérieure de biotechnologie de Strasbourg (ESBS)Parcours Diplôme d'ingénieur en biotechnologie
Description
Objectives in terms of knowledge (course content) :
- Modeling life systems: the compartment model,
- The S.I.R. model in disease spreading,
- The prey / predator model in species regulation,
- Writing and solving differential equations of order 1 (simple and coupled) applied to biology,
- Writing and solving differential equations of order 2 (simple and coupled) applied to biology,
- Basic knowledges of numerical methods applied to functions and differential equations,
- Cross knowledge with Data Sciences courses in order to numerically solve coupled differential systems
Compétences visées
Objectives in terms of skills :
The student will master the modeling of simple biological systems (bacterial growth, radioactive decay, fermentor, gene regulation, component cycles, …) using differential equations. He/she will be able to solve them using analytical and/or computational approaches.
