Translation
Diplôme d’ingénieur spécialité chimie-biotechnologies (Chembiotech)Parcours Diplôme d'ingénieur spécialité chimie-biotechnologies (Chembiotech)
Description
Objectives in terms of knowledge (course content):
- CM
- The mechanism of translation: what is needed for translation (components and actors), the process, differences in pro- and eukaryotes and what is the product of translation
- Post-translation: protein modification, trafficking, gene regulation, quality control
- Engineering: IRES, 2A peptides, fluorescent tags
- Methods to detect proteins: IHC/IF, purification, WB, IP/Co-IP, ChIP/ChIP-seq, Microscopy and FRET
- Group work
Students are divided into groups and work on a specific question related to translation process and its regulation. There is a session with the teacher in order to ask questions and guide the groups into the reflection on their subject. Afterwards, they write a little report (5 pages) and prepare a short presentation (10min) to explain their subject to the whole class.
- TD
Exercises about translation and application. There are 2 sessions: one for BT only and one for CBT only. This allows better participation of the students and give an example of the future examination exercises.
Compétences visées
Objectives of the lessons :
- Understanding and acquiring of the mechanisms linked to the dynamics of gene expression in a cell (prokaryotes and eukaryotes) at molecular and cellular levels
- Knowing some techniques linked to proteins
Modalités d'organisation et de suivi
Pedagogic Approach :
Powerpoint slides are first presented in German. Then, using the same slides, the content is explained using French. Finally, groups of six including students with different levels of German are formed. The members of each group work together to prepare a presentation of one of the course topics in German on predetermined dates.
