Description

Objectives in terms of knowledge (course content) :

- Good practice laboratory, health and security

- Principle of operation and functioning of laboratory instruments

- Introduction to the purification of different components (proteins and amino acids) by the use of chromatography technics

- Analysis of proteins by SDS-PAGE, staining methods

- Physical principles of the analysis methods applied to biomolecules: transport phenomena, chromatography technics (ion exchange, size exclusion) and spectroscopies (absorption, fluorescence, ...)

- Physical mesures: captors, uncertainty estimation and propagation, automatisation, numerical data management

Compétences requises

Lectures of semester 1 at ESBS 1A

Concepts of protein and amino acid biochemistry

Compétences visées

- Apply an experimental process

- Apply the basic rules at the benchmark (pipeting, gel, weighting, pH, buffer, ...)

- Ability to critically analyze results obtained during the practicals

- Know how to evaluate uncertainties on physical measurements

- Know how to set up properly laboratory devices depending on experimental constraints

- Write a report

- Team working
