Description du contenu de l'enseignement

Objectives in terms of knowledge (course content) :
  • Acquisition of knowledge on principal cellular processes (cell division, migration, differentiation) required for the use of mammalian cells as tools for therapeutic targets identification and validation.
  • Acquisition of knowledge on Biotech Companies using the knowledge on these cellular processes for developing applications in the field of innovative therapies (e.g. cancer, Alzheimer, stem cells in regenerative medicine)
Examples of approaches that will be encountered and analyzed:
  • Cell and transgenic animal models
  • Genetic engineering
  • Cell imaging technologies (link with lectures and demos by Denis Dujardin)
  • Drug characterization using cellular assays
  • High throughput screening: pharmacological, cellular
  • High content screening: cellular

Objectives in terms of skills :
  • Use reviews, research articles, patents and other sources at increasingly professional level
  • Perfect fluency with and practice scientific English
  • Practice resource management and analysis at a professional level: Pubmed, Google Scholar, Endnote/Zotero, patent buddy.
  • Develop professional communication and reporting skills by team work in bi-lingual groups
  • Progressively apprehend and master the challenges provided by complexity and interdisciplinarity
